The president has announced the extension of the SRD grant of R350 up until March 2022.
This comes after a long time since the grant ended in April 2021 after double extension.
Since May 2021, the SRD grant of R350 was introduced to South Africans who were unemployed largely due to the global pandemic and the nationwide lockdown.
SASSA was the agency that administered the distribution of the grant.
But during his usual speech in the program lineup by government to fight the virus and systems put in place to mitigate the impact, the president has once again reinstated the grant..
Although, people thought it should have been increased to R585 or possibly making it a permanent Basic Income Grant, we are sure due to financial constraints, looking at damage this pandemic has had on the entire economy of the country, we may for now accept and appreciate this gesture.
