All Approved Applicants of the SASSA SRD R350 will be paid – DSD Minister Zulu
The minister of Social Development Department Ms Lindiwe Zulu has reiterated her commitment to pay all those who have been approved for the #sassa #srd #R350 grant.
During an interview with a broadcast journalist, Ms Zulu who looked a bit worried about the challenges some applicants are experiencing, has reassured all those affected applicants that, she in collaboration with administrators of Sassa are working tirelessly all day to make all such challenges are resolved.
She was however quick to add that, as a minister her main role was to to supervisor the works SASSA and offer the necessary support as and when necessary.
She claimed to have received numerous complaints and reports from some applicants who have been approved since June but no pay dates.
It may be recalled that the president announced the introduction of the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) of R350 to help mitigate the economy impact of the global pandemic that has left millions of South Africans jobless.
In October, he extended the grant for another three months making a total of nine months ending in January 2021.
The grant was supposed to end in October but after accessing the economic condition of the masses, the president heeded to the calls for the extension.
Prior to this some have even requested for the introduction of permanent basic income grants for all unemployed citizens who were already struggling to meet daily livelihood.
But according to economic experts and even the Finance Minister, such payments will ruin the entire economy and as such the current economic situation will not permit government to pay basic income grants for the unemployed.
